is it me, or is there a 'quiet revolution' going on?
maybe 'revolution' is not the correct word.
i just went on e-watchman's site and looked on the guest page.
I first posted on an ex jw site when I was still an elder, it was not this site, but the very fact that I looked at those sites, not to mention posted on them was indicitive of my dis-satisfaction.
I am now myself an Ex-JW, and would nevr consider going back.

i was just laying here plonking away at my computer dialed in at the high speed of, yes you guessed it 26.4k... that's 26.4 whole kilobytes per second.. at one time this was state of the art .. i shouldn't complain because it's a free service, but come on, 26.4k?.
anyone else going this slow or is it just me?.
I used to be on broadband connecting at 512kbps, but i recently moved to a very rural location and cannot as yet get broad band. I am now back to dial up
My standard connection rate is 26.4kbps

feeling lost today.. it's the weekend, and i will be once again going home to an empty house, where my children won't be welcoming me home.
i haven't seen or talked to them in a very long time.
i won't be able to kiss their sweet faces, or hold them close to me, so i can tell them i love them.

i remember as a kid being freaked out by two pictures.
one was of the demons floating away leaving their screaming wives and babies during the flood, and the other was the collage with the gas mask guy and the kid holding his hands over his ears and the dead guy with the chopsticks.... .
oh yes, did i mention that i wasn't allowed to watch the care bears movie as a kid because of the "frightening and demonic" scenes?
How many times has the WTS taken issue against the Catholics portral of hell?
I think any child would find these scenes equally as frightening.
As a child I also had my TV programmes vetted to make sure there was no demonic or disturbing images, yet I was subjected to these kind of images regularly whilst attending meetings and doing family study.

hi all, i have not posted for some time, to bring you up to date, i recently moved, the local jw's do not know me.
they do not know i am a fade-away.. as luck would have it, a couple of weeks ago two 50-somthing jw's, husband and wife, knocked on our door while doing normal house to house work.
i got the standard presentation, with a strong emphasis on 1914 and the last days.

The thought of you playing them along like that had me in stitches. I've often thought i'd like to be in that situation, but unfortunatley the jw's around here all know who i am.
I can imagine them relating their experience to other jw friends when they met up for morning coffee

...have they justified the un involvement to you by saying that the wts was only getting information for their magazines, that they weren't "aiding" them in their political work, so the involvement was ok?.
imo, there is no justification for the un invovement.
how do you reason with your family when they defend the actions of the wts?

Yes, I have had a very similar response from my family. It is very frustrating. I usually show them the requirements of being an NGO. Informing them that as an NGO they had to promote the interests of the UN. This they often did under the guise of "Watching the world". In those articles the regularly informed readers of UN activities, as well as promote them.
Still it did no good, I have even tried showing them the absolute evidence relating to the misrepresentation of the 607 date, but they would rather believe without question whta they are told through WT and at meetings.
Yes I have also had "The internet is a tool of the devil" rebuttle, this appears to resolve most of thier problems. Anything they dislike must come from the devil, as the org is the truth, and can never lie.
